Our Story

In 1976, a small company called Yoder Stove & Supply opened in Sandy, Oregon, a city nestled at the base of Mt. Hood just outside Portland. The company began manufacturing Hearth Pads, and quickly earned a renowned reputation for craftsmanship. Yoder Stove & Supply blended thoughtful designs that were true, timeless pieces of art with a mission to protect homes, eventually becoming the oldest Hearth Pad company in America. 

Over the years, Yoder Stove & Supply adopted the name Hearth Classics and continued to grow its collection of Hearth products, offering a variety of protections and designs. Every product carries the same founding intention: to protect the home beautifully.

The company’s ownership changed in 2013, when American Panel’s owners, Jeff and Ann Kreiser, acquired Hearth Classics. The couple was the best fit to carry on Hearth Classics legacy. In the years prior, they had led the way in innovation by making significant changes to Hearth Pads’ manufacturing processes. By replacing the combustible particleboard substrates used to build Hearth Pads with non-combustible materials, the Kreiser’s products exceed industry safety standards.

In the same year, Hearth Classic’s home base moved to Grand Haven, Michigan and became part of the same family as American Panel Hearth Products. In 2023, both brands came together under the Classic American Hearth brand. Through it all, the Hearth Classics identity has remained rooted in creating products that truly protect homes while celebrating unique, treasured artistry.

Today, Hearth Classics operates as a division of Classic American Hearth alongside American Panel. Together, the two brands bring nearly a century of combined experience to crafting Hearth Pads. From our beginnings in Sandy, Oregon, to our present home in Grand Haven, Michigan, we have never lost sight of the values that built this brand.
